Hong Kong Disneyland

The influence of Mickey Mouse is indeed truly remarkable! America has brought its most iconic tourist destination to the east – the Hong Kong Disneyland.

The Hong Kong Disneyland theme park is located in Lantau Island particularly in Penny’s Bay. It officially opened to Asian and international visitors on September 12 2005. The most interesting fact about the Hong Kong Disneyland is that the structure of it was aligned with a Chinese tradition which is Feng Shui.

For instance, there was a bend in the walkway near the theme park’s resort entrance so that the qi energy will not flow into the South China Sea.

Just like in America, the Hong Kong Disneyland consists of seven major themed areas; these are Main Street, Adventureland, Fantasyland, Toy Story Land, Tommorrowland, Mystic Point, and Grizzly Gulch. The cast members speak multilingual language including English, Cantonese and Mandarin. The guide maps are also printed in different Asian languages such as Chinese, Japanese, Malay, Indonesian and Thai.

Since its opening in 2005, the Hong Kong Disneyland already catered to 25 million tourists all over the world with around 8 – 9 million visitors per annum.

The theme park has also different activities that adults or young-at-hearts can enjoy such as the Disney Haunted Halloween, Disney in the Stars which is a pyrotechnic show with spectacular fireworks at night in sync with classic songs, and Disney Paint in the Night Parade as well as Flights of Fantasy Parade. Families can also relax and have a good time staying at the Disneyland Resort and the Hollywood Hotel.

The Hong Kong Disneyland is very accessible and convenient; there is a direct MTR line from the Sunny Bay Station to the Disneyland Resort Station. You can also take the Disneyland Shuttle bus and even ride the Long Win Bus which operates 3 routes to Disneyland. If you are coming from Central Hong Kong, it will take about 40 minutes by train, and about 30 – 40 minutes if you are coming from Tsim Sha Tsui.
